Status of position: Full-time

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The two most critical roles for the Post Harvest and Packaging Supervisor is to oversee all post-harvest operations from drying to packaging, and to hire and train staff that are capable of meeting production goals and maintaining a consistent, medical cannabis line fully consistent with Standard Operating Procedures. Working with all employees engaged in post-harvest activities, he/she will ensure the entire process is monitored, regulated and the result is medical cannabis that meets the health and safety standards set by Health Canada. The Post Harvest and Packaging Supervisor will provide the organizational tools to improve the capability of the business process.

The Post Harvest and Packaging Supervisor will serve as the Alternate Responsible Person in Charge when the Divisional Manager (RPIC) is not present. The A/RPIC will work at the site and have responsibility for supervising the activities with respect to dried cannabis conducted at that site by the licensed producer under their license. The Post Harvest and Packaging Supervisor must ensure compliance with all relevant Acts and regulations.

Core Competencies

• Knowledge of physical security requirements for Controlled Substances related legislations, regulations and guidelines in Canada.
• Strong and current knowledge with logistics planning system (ERP) and other computer applications.
• General understanding about the operational controls and inventory movement of controlled substances.
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee the complete drying process and ensure the dried product meets required specifications
• Schedule all post-harvest activities to ensure a smooth work flow.
• Weigh, combine and manage bulk inventory containers, ensuring accurate weights.
• Label and seal packaged products.
• Assist in fulfillment and shipping during peak periods.
• Ability to learn new processes.
• Maintains a safe work environment by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Able to communicate effectively with team members.
• Thorough understanding of company goals, objectives, policies and matters related to the business.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work variable shifts.
• Other duties as assigned by QAP.
• Ability to act with tact, good judgment, and discretion; sensitivity to confidential matters is required.
• Professional demeanor, a positive attitude and customer focused approach.
• Other duties as assigned by Divisional Manager (RPIC).

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in related field of Agriculture/Horticulture
• Managerial Experience – Must be able to schedule all activities to maximize efficiency.
• Experience in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing or Automation.
• Must be able to safely and carefully operate and use assigned equipment and machinery.
• Demonstrated communication and organizational skills.
• Must be detail oriented.
• Strong reading, writing and numeracy skills.
• Must be able to carry out often repetitive tasks at a continuously high level of quality.
• Willingness and flexibility to complete any task that may be required.
• Experience in a post-harvest or inventory management environment preferred.

Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Security Clearance: Security Clearance may be requested for this position.
Working Hours: Hourly Position – Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Weekend work or on-call work will be required in this position for plant maintenance.
This position will require after hours or extended hours based on activity.

Physical Requirements: Physical aptitude and health necessary to perform manual labor tasks required for the proper management of the Warehouse and Production Operations.
