The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government’s Administration Directorate is involved in the management of all programs and services delivered by the LMG Directorates, which include: Administration, Finance, Listuguj Community Health Services, Listuguj Community Social Services, Listuguj Education Directorate, Natural Resources, and Public Security.
The Band Administrator oversees the LMG Directorates. The role of the Band Administrator is to make certain that each Directorate follows the budgets and policies, which have been approved by Chief and Council. The Band Administrator reports directly to Chief and Council on the management and operations of all the Directorates.
There are approximately 200 full-time and temporary employees at the LMG. However, over the year with seasonal and project workers, the LMG employs as many as 750 people annually. Seasonal employment peaks in the spring, summer and fall primarily in Administration, Capital & Infrastructure and Natural Resources. As well, students are employed annually.
Administration plays a key role in managing the day-to-day functions of the LMG’s affairs in the areas of employment, communications, computer technology systems, lands and estates, and band membership. As well, this Directorate oversees the management of the Listuguj Community Development Center (Bingo Hall).

Chief Executive Officer
The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government embodies and reflects the cultural values of the Mi’gmaq. It is the Management Philosophy of the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government to:

The mission of the Administration of the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government is to deliver the best possible services and programs in accordance with the policies and budgets approved by the Council.
Roles and Responsibilities
The specific roles and responsibilities of the Administration are:
To conduct the programs and services approved by Council, in accordance with the policies’ criteria
To manage any special projects approved by Council.
To help obtain adequate funding and to manage the funds entrusted to it in the most effective and responsible manner, consistent with approved budgets and policies.
To support the work of Council and its Committees by:
Providing expertise and analysis, and recommending appropriate options;
Contributing to the planning process through active participation of the Directors in the Committees of the Council;
Providing administrative support and co-ordination to the work of the Committees of Council;
Assisting in the communications initiatives of Council.
5. To help deal with unforeseen circumstances in an effective and constructive manner.
6. To constantly improve its own capabilities, both at the level of individual employees and as an organization.
7. To represent the best interests of the Listuguj Mi’gmaq First Nation in all dealings with other governments and outside organizations.

Our mission is to provide all Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government employees with a reliable Human Resource service that meets the administrative and professional needs of the community, while helping its employees in their ongoing professional development and career objectives.
Human Resources is responsible for the following:
- Job posting and hiring
- Employee training and support counseling
- Job evaluations and performance appraisals
- Productivity incentives and career advancement possibilities
- Employee benefit programs and administrative policy development
- Promotion activities advocating a healthy, productive and positive work environment
- Maintaining employee records and filing
Information management and technology systems are necessary in the day-to-day work of LMG staff members. Enhancing our information management system will help us to deliver LMG’s programs and services in an efficient manner.
The mission of the Information Technology department is to provide the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government with a reliable and dependable computer network, which will be maintained and updated to reflect the current and future needs of our community.
The IT department is responsible for the following:
- Network maintenance and development
- E-mail systems and data-base development
- Software updates and system controls
- Communication systems and employee support
- Employee purchase program
Lands, Estates & Membership
The Lands, Estates & Membership department provides quality and efficient services to the people of Listuguj, community organizations and the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government.
We are a member of the First Nations Lands Managers Association for Quebec and Labrador. As well, we are the regional representative on the National Aboriginal Lands Managers Association. Land managers’ associations provide this Directorate with access to resources, training opportunities, and the chance to network with other First Nations land managers in the region and across Canada.
About Lands, we can provide assistance with:
- Land transfers, preliminary land surveys, maps, determining land boundaries, issuing Certificates of Possession (CP)
- Rights of way and legal matters related to land protection
- Simple Wills
- We can help you to understand your paperwork related to estates
- Update status cards, process membership transfers, maintain a Band List, supply voter lists
- Register births, deaths, and marriages
- Register name changes and adoptions
Communications is part of our everyday life. Sharing information is also integral to good governance. With effective communications, community members can be informed about LMG mandates, policy development, as well as any governance concerns or issues. Moreover, it is important for community members to access accurate, reliable and up-to-date information about the programs and services administered by the LMG Directorates.
The objective for the site is that it will serve as a beacon for the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government, reflecting LMG priorities, its plans for all program and service areas, current policies, and political events.
The objective for the LMG Facebook page is to engage with our community members using social media. Over the past few years Social Media has become a large part of how we communicate with one another. The LMG uses Social Media to distribute information and photos about events, programs, initiatives and celebrations in and around Listuguj.
The objective for the LMG Twitter page is to engage with our community members using social media. Over the past few years Social Media has become a large part of how we communicate with one another. The LMG uses Social Media to distribute information and photos about events, programs, initiatives and celebrations in and around Listuguj.
The objective of the LMG YouTube page is to keep our community members up to date using YouTube. Whether it is a community meeting, or presentation, or event that takes place within the community it is the role of LMG Communications to distribute this information as best a possible for community members who can not attend events.
